This policy explains what Yonder does with your personal information. Yonder is operated by Yonder Technologies Inc., a company incorporated in Alberta, Canada.
We are subject to Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA, and to Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act. If you live in Quebec, Quebec's privacy law also applies to you and gives you some additional rights, which are noted below.
We never see or store your card number. Card details go directly to Stripe, which is certified to handle them. Stripe tells us the country the card was issued in and whether it was a credit or debit card, which we use to check for unusual activity. That is all we get.
When you build an itinerary, we send the trip details you entered to Anthropic, an AI company based in the United States, which generates the suggestions. This is how the planning feature works, so it is not something you can use the feature without.
We send the trip content. We do not send your payment details or your contributors' details.
If you would rather not have trip details processed this way, do not use the itinerary generator. You can still create a registry and receive contributions.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.
If you contribute, the recipient sees your name, the amount, and any message you wrote. That is the point of a registry, but it is worth knowing before you write anything.
We use a small number of service providers. Each gets only what it needs to do its job.
Several of these store or process data in the United States. That means the information can be subject to lawful access requests by United States authorities. We use providers that offer contractual protections for data handled outside Canada.
We will disclose information if a law, a regulator, or a court order requires it. We will tell you when we are allowed to.
If Yonder is sold or merges with another company, user information would transfer as part of that. We would tell you before it happened.
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, and then for as long as the law requires us to keep records. Contribution and payout records are kept longer than most things because tax rules require it.
Our internal Data Retention Policy sets out the specific periods.
You can ask us to:
Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
There are limits. We cannot delete records we are legally required to keep, and we cannot delete information held by Stripe, which you would need to take up with Stripe directly. Deleting your account does not undo contributions that have already been made.
If you are in Quebec, you also have the right to ask us to stop displaying information about you and, where it applies, to receive your information in a portable format.
You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, if you are in Alberta, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. If you are in Quebec, to the Commission d'accès à l'information.
We use cookies to keep you logged in and to understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the platform will stop working properly if you do.
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted administrative access. No system is completely secure and we will not tell you otherwise. If a breach happens that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.
Yonder is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy. If a change is material we will tell you before it takes effect, by email or on the platform.
Questions, requests, or complaints go to [email protected]. That address reaches the person accountable for privacy at Yonder.
